Apartments for Homeless Open in University District
September 28, 2011

This month, the Low Income Housing Institute (www.lihi.org) opened the doors to Gossett Place in the University District
neighborhood of Seattle.  Gossett Place provides 53 studio apartments and 10 one-bedroom apartments to homeless individuals.

The project, which costs $15 million, also contains a computer lab and community room, as well as on-site job training and
counseling.  Tenants pay 30% of their income for rent.

For this project James Tjoa of RE/MAX Commercial located the development site and brokered the deal on LIHI's behalf.  The
project site, zoned NC3-65, sold for $2,500,000 in 2009.

Since 1991, James Tjoa has worked with LIHI on over 30 transactions, locating, researching, and identifying potential
development sites for their many projects.  LIHI currently owns and/or operates more than 50 projects in six counties.  Past
transactions include land in South Lake Union for the development of Denny Park Apartments and land in Kenmore for Copper
Lantern Townhomes and Apartments.
